2025 Simple Step-Through E-Bike Assembly & Features

This manual outlines the assembly process and features of the Simple Step-Thru 20” 500-watt Deluxe Ebike.

Overview:

The Simple Step-Thru 20-inch 500-watt Deluxe Ebike is a compact, lightweight, and easy-to-transport e-bike with a front suspension fork for a comfortable ride over varied terrain.

Dimensions:

  • Box Weight: Approximately 60 lbs
  • Box Dimensions: Approximately 58 inches (width) x 30 inches (height) x 9 inches (depth)

Assembly Instructions:

Step 1: Unboxing

  1. Carefully open the top of the box, noting that there are staples on the top. Remove staples if desired to prevent scratches during assembly.
  2. Locate the front of the box. Using a box cutter, make a cut along the edge to create a "garage door" opening. This allows for easier removal of the e-bike.
  3. Grip the fork and wheel the e-bike out on its back wheel.
  4. Set the e-bike down on a protective mat, if available.

Step 2: Removing Packaging

  1. Remove the plastic packaging from the front wheel.
  2. Cut all zip ties securing the front wheel using snips or sharp scissors. Avoid using a box cutter to prevent scratching the bike or slicing the tires.
  3. Remove the front wheel and set it aside.
  4. Remove the front fender and set it aside.
  5. Locate and remove the seat post, which is zip-tied to the frame. Set it aside.
  6. Remove the seat from the front of the box and set it aside.
  7. Cut all remaining zip ties and remove all packaging from the front fork to prepare for front wheel installation.

Step 3: Installing the Front Wheel

  1. Remove the plastic packaging insert from the front wheel axle. Loosen the bolts to remove this insert. This packaging can be discarded.
  2. Tilt the frame up, allowing the handlebars to dangle. Rest the bike in this position.
  3. Remove the plastic packaging from the front wheel.
  4. Loosen the axle nuts on the front wheel. These can be removed completely or loosened to the end of the axle.
  5. Lift the frame and slide the front wheel into the forks. Ensure the rotor slides into the brake calipers as the forks engage the axle. The wheel will then seat properly.
  6. Hand-tighten the axle nuts.
  7. Deploy the kickstand for stability.

Step 4: Installing the Handlebars

  1. Ensure the front wheel is straight, which will align the top piece of the stem.
  2. Locate the toolkit in box 3. This toolkit contains the necessary Allen keys, pedals, and charger.
  3. Loosen and remove the two bolts on the handlebar stem using the appropriate Allen key.
  4. Seat the handlebars into the stem. Ensure the ribbed part of the handlebar is centered to ensure a secure fit.
  5. Hand-tighten the top piece back onto the stem.
  6. Tighten both bolts on the stem firmly to prevent handlebar movement during riding. Continue tightening until resistance is felt and no further movement is possible.
  7. To adjust the handlebar height, turn the knob on the stem as far as possible while it is loose. Clamp the quick release down. It should require significant effort to clamp.
  8. To fold the handlebars for transport, lift the latch and pull it down. Fold the handlebars down. To secure, push the latch up and click it back into place.

Step 5: Installing the Front Fender and Light

  1. Locate the bolt at the back of the front fork, which is threaded into the top. Loosen it using the appropriate Allen key from the toolkit.
  2. Position the light, then the fender.
  3. Feed the bolt through the fender tab, then into the light, and then into the hole in the fork.
  4. Begin threading the bolt into the fork.
  5. Ensure the fender tab is held all the way up while tightening or screwing down the bolt.
  6. Locate the fender strut bolt. Use an Allen key on the front and an 8mm open-ended wrench on the backside to loosen and remove this bolt.
  7. When installing the strut, ensure it goes on the inside of the brake cable. Placing it on the outside will put too much pressure on the cable and impede brake function.
  8. Tighten the strut bolt all the way down.
  9. For added security, an optional nut can be added to the backside of the strut bolt and tightened.
  10. Repeat the process for the fender strut on the other side.
  11. If the fender is not perfectly straight, gently adjust the metal to achieve the desired position.

Step 6: Final Front Wheel Tightening

  1. Use the 15mm wrench from the toolkit to tighten the front wheel nuts.
  2. Tighten the nuts until they are very snug, applying sufficient muscle to prevent stripping but ensuring they can be removed if needed in the future.

Step 7: Installing Pedals

  1. Locate the pedals in box 3. The pedals are marked with an "L" for left and "R" for right.
  2. Both pedals are tightened by twisting to the right. The right pedal has a normal thread, and the left pedal has a reverse thread. This design ensures they tighten during pedaling.
  3. Use the 15mm wrench from the toolkit to tighten the pedals.
  4. Ensure the pedals are securely torqued down.
  5. Note that the pedals are folding pedals. To fold, simply push them down. This is useful for transport or when laying the bike down. To unfold, pop them back into place.

Step 8: Installing the Seat

  1. Locate the seat and seat post.
  2. Remove the two 14mm bolts on the side of the seat.
  3. Insert the seat post into the seat.
  4. Adjust the seat angle to your preference. This can be fine-tuned later.
  5. Tighten both bolts on the side of the seat equally. Do not over-tighten one side. Ensure they are tight to prevent the seat from tilting during riding.
  6. To insert the seat into the bike frame, loosen the quick release on the seat post.
  7. Hand-tighten the dial on the quick release as much as possible.
  8. Clamp the quick release down using the palm of your hand. This should require significant effort and will secure the seat firmly.

Step 9: Installing the Display

  1. Remove the protective packaging from the display unit.
  2. Mount the display on the handlebars.
  3. Use the appropriate Allen key from the toolkit to loosen the bolts on the display mount. Ensure the nuts remain wedged in the plastic.
  4. Open the display mount and place one side on the handlebar, then the other.
  5. Insert the bolts and begin tightening them.
  6. Adjust the display angle to your preference.
  7. Ensure the display is centered and tightened securely.

E-Bike Features and Operation:

  • Brakes and Gears: Brakes and gears are pre-tuned at the factory. If they feel unresponsive, refer to a professional or instructional videos for adjustment.
  • Battery:
  • The battery is located at the back of the e-bike.
  • Keys are used to lock the battery onto the bike, not to turn it on or off.
  • The battery can be charged while attached to the e-bike or removed for charging indoors.
  • The charging port is located on the e-bike.
  • A switch under the battery is used to turn the battery on and off.
  • The e-bike will only turn on if the battery is in the "on" position.
  • Display:
  • To turn on the e-bike, press and hold the power button on the display.
  • The display shows battery level, miles per hour, pedal assist level, and odometer.
  • Use the up and down buttons to increase or decrease the electric assist level.
  • Throttle:
  • The e-bike features a twist throttle.
  • The throttle requires at least level one pedal assist to function.
  • Gear Shifter:
  • Use the gear shifter to shift gears up and down.
  • Assistance level is distinct from gears. Higher assistance levels typically pair with higher gears.
  • Headlight:
  • To turn on the front headlight, hold the "up" button on the display. The headlight indicator will appear.
  • Hold the "down" button to turn it off.
  • Brake Lights: Brake lights illuminate when the brake levers are pulled during riding.
  • Suspension Fork:
  • The suspension fork has two settings: "open" and "locked."
  • Open: Allows fork travel to absorb bumps, providing a cushy, soft ride. This is ideal for uneven
