Comparing the regular reverse e-trike to our fat tire reverse e-trike. What's the difference? Hey, everyone, I'm Dustin. I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry, and today we're going to be comparing our regular tire reverse e-trike to our fat tire reverse e-trike and point out to you what the differences are. Now, our Fat Tire e-trike is our newest release. We have our regular, or let's say, more normal width reverse e-trike right here. Let's get into what the major difference is between these two which is weight and of course the tire size the fat tire reverse e-trike weighs 80 and a half pounds with the battery now this is a 20 amp hour battery and the standard reverse e-trike weighs 69 and a half pounds so that is a let me do the math here about 11 pound difference between the two of these. Now, a lot of what's going to be attributed to the weight of the battery and also the tires. The battery on the regular reverse e-trike is 10.4 amp hour, so almost double the battery size on the fat tire version. A couple of reasons for that. Number one, we wanted to upgrade it and offer that bigger battery so you can go longer and farther. Also, with the bigger tires, the wider tires, you're going to create more drag, which is going to drain the battery quicker. So, having that extra larger battery will be helpful. Now, if you wanna remove the battery to lift it, the battery here is about 9 pounds. The battery here is 8 pounds. You can take them off and reduce the weight of those to lift them and fold them. All right, let's go through the similarities. So they both have the 7 speeds with the trigger shifter from Shimano. They both have the five levels of pedal assist. They both have parking brakes. They both have the same front-end tilting steering. And they both have 750-watt rear hub motors. The other thing I want to point out is that fat tires have hydraulic brakes. The regular one, we have a version currently with mechanical discs, but we also have a version coming out with hydraulic brakes as well. So that's an upgraded feature on the existing model that we're coming out with. And now the fat tire will have the hydraulic.
Now I have the basket on the front of the fat tire. You can also get the basket on the regular, and it comes with a light on both of these as well. Both fold in the middle, both fold on the handlebars, and both can fold up and be taken with you. So, what's the big difference? Well, the fat tires are the big difference, and they do steer a little bit differently. Now, obviously, with these big fat tires, taking it on trails is going to be much better and easier. Off-roading will be much better with these wide tires and, of course, these beefy treads. Now, the other thing is with the wider tires, you do get more stability. It slows down the steering a little bit and makes the handling a little stiffer. Now, on the flip side, with the smaller tires, it's a little more nimble, a little more tighter steering, and you can really zip through things a little bit more drastically on this one versus this one. It trades a little more stability in exchange for a little less nimbleness, although it still has the tilting steering, so you can still take turns at high speeds. But you can see I can easily put this up on all three wheels, and it balances. Now, I can do the same on this one as well, but you just have to find the point of balance a little bit more. There you go. Now it balances. So if you're looking to go on hardpack trails off-road, or if you want something a little more stable, this one's a better option. But if you want really nimble steering, easy to turn, tight cornering, this one's a little bit zippier and easier to handle in that regard. Now, one important thing is also the step-over height. So step over the height on the fat tires, about 12 and a half inches. And on the regular one... It is 11 inches, so an inch and a half difference. Now, it may not seem like a lot to the average person, but for some people, for the mounting and dismounting, that inch and a half can actually make a big difference. All right, now let's show you the seat in the lowest position on the fat tire is 32 and a half inches. And on the regular one, it is 31 and a quarter inches. So again, you're getting a lower seat height on this one versus that one. So if you are shorter, I would say five foot three and under, the fat tire one may be a little bit too big for you.
The regular one is probably a better option. Now, of course, we have the 20-inch in the rear, 16-inch wheel in the back. Actually, it's the same on both, but if you see, the back height of the fat tire is up to 26 inches, and the back here on this one is 23 inches. So a lot more compact on this one as well. If transporting it is very important to you, this one's going to be easier to transport and bring with you and to fold up as well. And if you want the specific dimensions of each of those, you can visit our website. We have the videos where you can detail them. I'm just giving you some of the highlights. Now in terms of the length as well, from front to back, the regular one is about 50, 60 inches. And the fat tire is about 66 inches. So again, a longer frame, and also let's get the width really quick too. So the width of this one is 26 inches, and the width of this one is 24 inches. So again, narrower, lighter, compact, easier to transport, beefier, easier to go off-road, and also a little more stable. So that's really the major difference. They do drive a little bit differently. Again, very nimble. This one has a little tighter steering because you have the bigger wheels. Not difficult to steer, but actually, if you want more stability, this is better. Again, it's going to balance on its own a little bit easier. Now, neither of these can you sit on without putting the kickstand down. I mean, you could sit here and balance, but it's not going to be like a trike with three wheels in the back where you can just sit there and not have to put any effort into balancing it. The bigger battery is a definite plus. If you're someone who likes to ride really far, don't worry about range. We've now gone with a 20 amp hour battery. That was a big request out there. So you have it on the fat tire version as well. So, top speeds are going to be the same on both. Both have the throttle option and the pedal assist option. And that's about it. If you want to see demo rides of either of these, check out our YouTube channel. I take them both out for spins, off-road and on-road. You can see how they perform.
