I Rode 100 Miles with a Physically Limited Leg Using THIS Pedal! Leg Brace Pedals for Bikes!

The perfect leg support brace pedal for e-bikes.

Hey everyone, I'm Dustin. I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry. Today I'm gonna show you the perfect leg brace pedal that gives you support on your leg for any e-bike, bike, or trike. All right, right here I've got the Simple Glide Recumbent E-Trike, which is an awesome E-Trike if you want something easy to get on and off, and of course, with this comfortable seat here. But right here, we've installed the Haas Bikes support pedal, which I'm gonna link in the description below. Now, these are offered by Haas Bikes, they're a German company, they're not inexpensive, they're about $375 a piece, maybe more depending. We don't manufacture them, but they've been a great complement to our e-bikes. Now, if you're a rider who requires a little extra support, maybe you have some neuropathy in a leg or a foot, and you've lost control of it, and maybe part of the reason why you can't power your bike or e-bike is that you need it strapped in. Well, these pedals are cool, and they'll do just that. You can see here that you've got the calf support here, and you can strap your shin in with your calf, and then you can strap your foot in, and everything is fully adjustable on this pedal. You can raise and lower it, you can widen the pedal for your foot, and you can also lengthen it for your foot. So, very customizable to your foot, and makes it easy to generate power if you're someone, like I said, who can't get a bike going. Part of what I've seen with many riders with Parkinson's or neuropathy or some other, you know, disability or arthritis, if they've lost function in a particular foot or leg, they have the leg strength, but they just can't generate the power. So by strapping the leg and the foot in, they actually can move the pedals much more easily. So this could be a game-changer for many riders out there. Now I'm going to try to do this myself. I will say it's not exactly the easiest thing in the world to do by yourself, but let's go ahead and try. So you put your foot in here, and then you come down right here. Okay. And now you pull this down, and then you strap in.

That wasn't too bad. And then right here, you just pull this over and go ahead and strap your foot in. All right. Well, maybe it was just the first time for me that made it a little bit difficult. So let's see. Okay. Now we've got to, there we go. Move the pedal forward. Okay. So let's go ahead and undo this. I mean, if you did have somebody helping you, it would make it quite a bit easier, but all right. So from there, pull this oops. Okay. Now this is where it may get a little tricky. Let's see if I can do it. There we go. Okay. Well, yep, see this is where it's a little bit difficult. Okay, I had to have our camera person help me get my left foot in. Now you can see how I have them strapped in here just over the top of my foot. It feels pretty good to me like that, but I think what you're supposed to do is take. Now I'm gonna have to take this one off just to demonstrate. So you're gonna, you're gonna most likely need somebody to give you some assistance. Now the other thing too is if you only need this for one leg, which is the case for many people, then it would be, it would be something you could easily do on your own, right? Because this leg would be free. And then from here you come in and pull this, strap that in right there. Now, what you can also do with this strap is that behind the pedal, there is Velcro. So you come in and strap it like that. And then from there, you can tighten this as much or as little as you want. And there is a pad that can go under there as well. So one pedal by yourself, no problem.

Two gets a little more challenging. But I just did another video riding with these. They are super comfortable, and they feel great. So we're gonna go do a little ride, and I'll show you how they perform. All right, I'm all strapped in with both legs. Honestly, I like it. It's very comfortable because it gives my leg support right here. And so even for somebody like me who doesn't necessarily need this, it feels kind of nice. So let me use my throttle to get going. And then from there, it just makes the pedaling experience so much more comfortable and easy, and you don't have to worry about, yeah, you know, your leg and it makes it so much easier to generate the power, because you're just focusing really on your hamstrings and quads, and you don't have to worry about keeping your foot on the pedal, which I think, is one of the problems for many riders. Now I can also, on this e-trike, shift it a little higher, making it even easier to pedal. I'm gonna move my, I got my seat. There we go. Far back, that's better. Ah, feels nice. And when you stop pedaling and you relax, it's nice because you have like a backrest for your calves. Ah, truly, truly. The combination of these pedals and this recumbent e-trike is a relaxing, joyous ride. So if you do need both of these, hopefully, you can find somebody who will ride with you and help strap your legs in. I'll just go ahead and turn around right here. So now you can have your back support, your leg support, and the pedals are adjustable. You can angle them and find the perfect width for them. You can raise and lower the calf support as well.

I am enjoying this. I can just feel how much more power I can generate by having my legs strapped in. Okay, coming to a stop up here and then getting out is the easy part. Put my parking brake on. So you just unstrap here, and then you grab this little loop right here, and you can pull your foot out. Once you have one out, you can easily grab the loop on the other one. Unstrap and you're on the way. Now, having a recumbent trike for these pedals, I think, is best because being able to have a nice platform I can sit on while I put these pedals on makes it easier. If I were higher off the ground, you know, you definitely would need somebody else to strap your feet or legs into them, but a really good support brace pedal if you need something like that to help. Strap your legs in and generate power.
