Seniors Test Out Electric Bikes: Will They Like Them, Are they Safe? Watch to See What Happens!

Host: Okay, here we are at our hill, and we've got various age riders. Jack, how old are you?

Jack: 73.

Host: And Phil?

Phil: 71.

Host: Shakir, 58. Mary, 72, and she's got the trike. We've got our 500-watt EVRYjourney and a 500-watt Body Ease. I got the Body Ease. Jack's got the Reach Your Destination. Can you guys attest that this is a fairly large hill?

Jack: Yes. This is a huge hill.

Host: Who would tackle this hill on a normal bike?

Phil: Probably nobody.

Mary: Not I. Oh, this is beautiful!

Host: What do you think?

Mary: I so love it! Awesome, awesome, awesome!

Host: Was that pretty easy?

Mary: Yep. Awesome! I'm having so much fun. I feel like a kid again.

Host: Hit the lever here and pick up speed. And it's a pretty, pretty good jolt. I mean, you can get really going on this, and I'm only at level one, and it goes up to five. So it's just enough. Here I go! If I didn't have this helmet on, my hair would be flying back. The hair I have! Yes. Off we go! Wait, wait, wait! I have to take my kickstand up. That one doesn't have a kickstand because it has three wheels, but this one does. So off we go. So, and I really think the power, here we go. I don't want anything more powerful than I have. I already have a little more confidence than I did when I first did this, but you know, as a senior citizen, I find this much safer. So here we go. Get your motor running, heading down the highway, looking for adventure at whatever comes my way! I love it. I love it!

Phil: So I'd have to say, from using it now for the first time and taking three or four rides with it up and down this glorious parking lot, 500 watts seems to be the perfect size for a motor, for an e-bike for a senior like me.

Jack: And for us, this 500-watt motor is perfect. I can't imagine myself as a senior citizen riding any more power than this gives me.

Shakir: Yeah, I think 500 watts is perfect because it gave me just enough speed. I'd be able to race my grandkids and not crash.

Mary: For me, 250 is just perfect because I want to go to the store, I want to go do groceries, I want to go on a picnic at the lake. This is just perfect for me. Being that I'm the oldest of all of these people, and I'm pushing 77, I think this 250 is perfect for me.

Phil: Well, Power Five is—I think I would use Power Five when I was going up a steep hill. For a flat, it's like too much; it's a racehorse. So one is not a turtle. One is comfortable, too. But definitely going with the vibe, I would use that for a hill on flats. It's an extremely powerful bike.

Mary: I love it! That was really fun going around like that. I just love it!

Host: Yeah? Exhilarating, huh?

Mary: Uh-huh. I'm 12 again!

Host: Yeah, the motor opens up the possibilities. It does really good on the bumps as well.

Phil: Going across turf felt like a Lamborghini.
