Electric tricycles with a reverse gear.
Hey everyone, I'm Dustin. I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry. Today, I'm going to show you some electric tricycles with a reverse gear and give you some insight into them. All right. Now, I've got five electric tricycles here from Sixthreezero. One of them doesn't have a reverse gear, which is our Rickshaw, so let's say you're looking for an electric trike with a reverse gear. The cool thing is that if you get an e-trike with a reverse gear, it can function the same as an electric scooter. So e-trikes can replace electric scooters, and the cool thing is that they can go so much faster, and you can take them to so many different places. Also, you can give yourself exercise if you're able to with the assistance of a motor.
So you can do everything you can do with a mobility scooter and more with an e-trike. If you get one with a reverse, now you've got the capabilities of the electric scooter. So the reverses on the e-trikes, a couple of things. Number one is if you reverse the e-trike, the pedals will move backward. So that is something to think about, that when you use the reverse option, your feet would have to be well, you could take your feet off the pedals, I suppose, and lift them, but the pedals will have to move backward. So, at least on all of the e-trikes that we have, that is something to think about as well. If you have any kind of paralysis in your legs and you can't move them at all, then maybe an e-trike's not a good option if you do think you're going to be utilizing that reverse feature quite a bit.
But the reverse feature is cool for going in and out of elevators and backing around tight spaces. If you wanna go shopping with it, pull up to a rack and there's nowhere to go in front of you, now you need to reverse out. I've done a couple of videos where I go shopping, I go in and out of elevators, and I show how the reverse can be useful, especially, if you get into your trike and you are not very mobile and you don't want to get up to move it around that reverse option makes it easy. So there are also two ways the reverse option can, well, they both kind of work the same. There are two ways to activate it. So one way is there is a switch up on the handlebars right here that will say D or R, and you can just flip between the two.
Go easily in and out of drive or reverse. The other way to do it is on the digital display with your plus and minus buttons, you could go to zero and hit the negative down below one more, and below zero will be R, which is reverse. So it's easy to get in and out of reverse, whether it's with the switch or it's with the display. From there, it depends on what kind of E-Trike you are looking for with a reverse option. Now, like I said, the Rickshaw doesn't have it, so we won't talk about it. Right here is our EZ Transit, which is a more compact folding e-trike. It's just really good for around-town riding if you want something small. This is our fat tire version. We also have a thinner tire version that takes up less space when being put away. So again, something compact, also very zippy. It can navigate in tight spaces very easily.
So, a great option if you want to go shopping indoors, office space, that kind of stuff, has a reverse option there as well. Now, all of these e-trikes have throttles. Some have a throttle you push with your thumb. Some have a throttle that you twist with your wrist. To utilize the reverse option, there are one of two ways. You can either just start pedaling backward, and you'll go backward, or you press the throttle, and then you'll start to go backward, and your feet will start to move. So you can also utilize the throttle to go forward as well. So cool option to have that throttle there. All right, now moving over here to our Simple Glides, you can tell by looking at them, these are extremely comfortable. We have our 750-watt fat tire version and our 500-watt thin tire version. These both have the reverse.
These are cool as a mobility option, right? Also, cool as a trike option, I've taken the fat tire one off-roading several times, but if you're looking for an ultra-comfortable seating position that's gonna feel like a mobility scooter, but give you the option of pedaling, these two are it. So these have twist throttles here that you twist to go backward, very easy to operate. I also wanna say if you wanna see any demonstrations or see these trikes in action, I've got lots of other videos on our YouTube channel where I showcase all of the features of each of these. All right, now onto our Relaxed body. This is a semi-recumbent e-trike with a longer frame and a big cargo space in the back. This is a twist throttle as well, this also has a reverse. Now, this is a longer frame than any of the other ones here. So maybe not great for indoor use or navigating super tight spaces. But it has that reverse feature as well. I would say these three right here, in my opinion, are three of the best for indoor. If you're looking for a mobility option that can take you indoors or outdoors, these are cool. They have lots of power, and they can take on different terrains, whether it's pavement or off-road. So these are some of the best e-trikes with reverse.
