Unbox, Assemble & Ride: Your Complete Easy Transit Folding E-Trike Walkthrough

This guide walks you through what arrives at your door, how to assemble the Easy Transit folding e‑trike from box to ride‑ready, how to operate it, and key weight notes to help with transport.

What arrives

  • Box weight (approx.): ~79 lb
  • Box size (approx.): ~41 in (L) × 30 in (W) × 26 in (H)
  • In the box:
  • Easy Transit e‑trike, folded
  • Front wheel (with motor and rotor)
  • Foldable stem and handlebar assembly
  • Seat with dual‑section seatpost
  • Front fender and two rear fenders
  • Front basket + mounting brackets (upper and lower clamp)
  • Rear basket + two mounting brackets
  • Pedals (marked R and L)
  • Tail light (battery‑powered, standalone switch)
  • Charger and basic tool kit

Tools you’ll use (metric)

Tin snips or scissors, 4/5/6 mm Allen keys, 10/15/18 mm wrenches (or sockets), tire pump with Schrader head.

Unboxing

  1. Cut the outer bands. Open the box top. If needed, make a clean vertical cut at the front panel to fold it down as a ramp.
  2. Snip all visible zip ties securing components. Remove loose parts (baskets, fenders, pedals, charger) and set them aside.
  3. Roll the trike out carefully. It arrives folded at the frame hinge.

Frame unfold & lock

  1. Rotate the main frame open.
  2. Latch: Push the quick‑release latch up to engage, close it fully, and confirm the safety lock is seated. The frame should feel rigid with no play.

Front fork orientation & wheel install

  1. Turn the fork so the headlight faces forward. The basket tab at the crown also faces forward.
  2. Position the wheel so the brake rotor slides cleanly between the brake pads.
  3. Ensure the notched washer sits at the bottom of each dropout so it keys into the slot.
  4. Hand‑thread axle nuts, then tighten both sides firmly with an 18 mm wrench. Press on the plastic axle‑nut cap.
  5. Motor cable: Align the arrows on both connectors, push straight together, then thread the collar to secure. Optionally zip‑tie the cable to the fork for strain relief.

Stem & handlebar

  1. Slide the foldable stem into the head tube.
  2. Important: Route all control wires in front of the bar (not trapped behind the stem).
  3. Align the stem with the front wheel. Tighten the internal 6 mm bolt so the bar won’t rotate independently of the fork. Close the stem’s safety latch.
  4. Set handlebar angle to comfort and tighten the two face bolts (5 mm) evenly and firmly. You can fine‑tune height later with the stem’s quick‑release.

Seatpost

Insert the dual‑section seatpost and snug the clamp. You can adjust height and saddle tilt later during your test ride.

Pedals

  1. Identify R (right) and L (left).
  2. Both pedals tighten by turning forward.
  • Right: standard thread (tighten clockwise).
  • Left: reverse thread (tighten counter‑clockwise).
  1. Finish with a 15 mm wrench—snug and secure.

Front fender

  1. Loosen the headlight crown bolt (5 mm hex / 10 mm nut). Mount the fender tab at the crown with the light. Leave slightly loose.
  2. Attach both fender struts to the fork mounts using the pre‑installed bolts (5 mm). Center the fender over the tire.
  3. Tighten the struts, then the crown bolt. Hand‑adjust minor rub by gently flexing the fender if needed.

Front basket

  1. Mount the upper bracket to the basket tab on the fork crown with the provided bolt/nut. Hand‑tighten.
  2. Fit the lower clamp around the fork struts from below and mate it with the upper piece, then install the bolts.
  3. Tighten all basket hardware evenly. Recommended load: up to ~15 lb (≈7 kg) for best handling.

Rear fenders

Each rear fender uses two bolts pre‑mounted in the fender. Position over the wheel, align the holes, and tighten with a 4 mm Allen key. When properly mounted, the fenders feel rigid.

Rear basket

  1. Remove the four bolts at the rear rack mount points.
  2. Place the basket on the rack with the opening toward the back.
  3. Lay the two long brackets across the basket bottom (inside). Push the bolts down through the mesh and into the rack threads. Starting each bolt by hand is easiest.
  4. Once all four bolts are started, tighten them evenly until the basket is secure.

Tail light

Remove the two rear screws on the light mount, position the light, and reinstall/tighten (≈ 8 mm). The tail light has its own button and power—it isn’t wired into the main battery.

Tires & pressure

  • Schrader valves. Front tire max 65 PSI. Aiming for ~60 PSI works well.
  • You’ll lose a small amount of air when removing the pump head; adding 1–2 PSI above target compensates.

Weight notes (for transport)

  • Trike without baskets/fenders: ≈69 lb
  • Battery: ≈6.5 lb
  • Lift weight with battery removed:62.5 lb
  • Baskets/fenders add about 10 lb combined. For frequent lifting or car loading, ride without baskets/fenders and remove the battery to minimize lift weight.

Power, display & controls

  • Battery: Insert and lock to secure. Power switch and charging port are on the battery (charger plugs directly into the port). The trike’s electrical system only works when the battery switch is ON.
  • Display: Press the handlebar power button to turn the system on. Screen shows speed (MPH), pedal‑assist level, trip distance, ambient temperature, and watt output. The 750W hub can briefly peak above its nominal rating under load; avoid prolonged max‑load climbing with heavy cargo to prevent overheating.
  • Controls:
  • Thumb throttle on the bar.
  • Drive/Reverse selector: D = forward, R = reverse.
  • Shifter: Trigger up/down to move through all gears smoothly.
  • Parking brake: Squeeze a lever and engage the latch to lock; squeeze again to release.

Pre‑ride checklist

  • Brakes centered and firm; rotors free of rub.
  • Shifts through the full cassette cleanly.
  • Stem/handlebar bolts tight; quick‑releases closed and secure.
  • Tires inflated; baskets/fenders tight; lights functional.
